Training Programmes

mechanic-fAt Future Cycles we love everything to do with bicycles, the fact that cycling is the most environmentally friendly form of transport after walking is an added bonus.
We want to do all we can to get people out of their cars and back on to their bikes, which is why we’re offering the following training courses for the coming year at our training facility located convieninetly in the city centre .

 

School Training (up to 16 years of age)

EAL Level 1 Certificate in Engineering and Technology (QCF)

EAL Level 2 Certificate in Cycle Maintenance (QCF)

EAL Level 3 Diploma in Cycle Maintenance (QCF)

Prices available on application.

School Training can be delivered at our training facilities located at Unit 1, Pilot House, 41 King Street, Leicester, LE1 6RN, or onsite at the respective school/college provided adequate facilities are available.

 

Adult Training (for 16 and over)

Same as above for accredited training.  Separate workshop options below are available for individual, group or corporate training

Basic Wheel Building  (Delivered as 5 x 2hrs sessions)

Tuesday evenings 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for five week commencing 10th April 2018 and 11th September 2018.

  • No prior experience necessary
  • Learn how to build a standard three cross pattern front wheel
  • learn how to build a standard three cross pattern rear wheel
  • learn how to build a radial pattern front wheel

Price (inclusive of course materials) £99.00

 

Advanced Wheel Building (Delivered as 5 x 2hrs sessions)

Tuesday evenings 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for five weeks commencing 15th May 2018.

  • Learners must have completed the basic wheel building course
  • Learn how to build a three cross radial hybrid rear wheel
  • learn how to build a snowflake pattern wheel
  • learn how to build a three pull three push pattern wheel

Price (inclusive of course materials) £99.00

An option is available for learners to purchase rims, hubs and spokes from Future Cycles at a sizeable discount, to build and keep a set of wheels while attending wheel building courses with us. We would require one weeks notice prior to the first session.

 

Introduction to Cycle Maintenance (1 x 3.5 hour session)

Saturday mornings 9:30 am to 1:00 pm on 10th February 2018, 12th May 2017 and 8th September.

  • No prior experience necessary
  • This course focuses on giving you the skills and knowledge to be able to perform minor adjustments and maintenance activities to your own bicycle
  • Learners will gain an understanding of how to perform a cycle safety check
  • Learners are encouraged to bring, and work on your own bike

Basic Cycle Maintenance (5 X 2 hour sessions, one day per week)

Wednesday evenings 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for 5 weeks starting on the 20th February 2018, 16th May 2018, and 16th October 2018

  • No prior experience necessary
  • This course focuses on giving you the skills and knowledge to perform adjustments and repairs
  • Change components such as brake and gear cables, brake blocks, drive chains,tyres and tubs, trouble shoot common cycle malfunctions.
  • Perform cycle maintenance activities
  • Learners are encouraged to bring, and work on your own bike

Price (inclusive of course materials) £55.00

 

Intermediate Cycle Maintenance (5 X 2 hour sessions, one day per week)

Wednesday evenings 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for 5 weeks starting on the 11th April 2018 and 17th October 2018

  • It is recommended that learners complete the Basic Cycle Maintenance course prior to attending this course.
  • This course focuses on giving you the skills and knowledge to perform intermediate level adjustments and repairs, including;
  • Wheel truing,
  • Gear cable replacement,
  • Wheel and bottom bracket bearing services
  • headset service and adjustment
  • Learners are encouraged to bring, and work on your own bike.

Level 2 VRQ Certificate in Cycle Maintenance (EAL) (10 x 6.5 hour sessions, Monday to Friday for two consecutive weeks)
